Population:

The city of Tampa is the largest city within Hillsborough County with a population of about 333,000 people in 2005 and is the third largest city within the State of Florida. As of July 2005 Tampa was ranked 56th and the area of Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater was ranked the 20th largest areas within the United States. In the years from 2000 - 2005 the population increased 10 %. This is an average increase of 5,900 persons per year. The population of Tampa is projected to increase by 13 % until 2015.

Housing:

The number of housing units increased 9 % between April 2000 and April 2005 to 147,880 homes and the Hillsborough County City-Planning-Commison projects that the number of housing units will increase 17 % until 2015.

Age of Population:

23 % of the population is below the age of 18;

60 % of the population is between the age of 18 and 61

and 17 % of the population is the age 62 or above.

Cost of Living:

The cost of living in Tampa is below the average of the United States (- 2.8 %)
